Neocities and the Yesterweb has opened me up to a lot of different websites, some for fun and some for practical use. I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread about ones I've recently discovered, and invite others to share as well. Old-School/Personal - neocities.orgYeah, it's kind of obvious, but the layout of the site itself is very appealing. It's easy to find pages that you'll want to follow, and you can search by tags to whittle down pages on topics you like. I would also recommend taking a glance at their Twitter page, which takes a lot of shots at Facebook and especially Twitter these days lol. Resources/Shopping - The Amazon Pamphlet (Amazon Alternatives) - xandra.cc/amazon.htmlIf you want to try to become a more socially responsible consumer, or just want to find new sites to browse stuff you might like to own, this is a very handy resource. Compiled by xandra.cc, the page breaks down the sites by categories (books, clothing, gifts, etc.) and gives you an idea of how pricey each site may be. Old-School/Tools - kidpix.app This was already discussed in another thread, but I feel it's worth bringing up here. I'd never heard of it before, but its a lot of fun. Obviously it's very useful for artists, but I've found it's also useful in creating simple graphics for your websites. This is a more recent find, but it still managed to introduce me to sites I hadn't found yet. It has a lot of useful resources for privacy and website-building, but there are also a lot of fun links too, like a super accessible gif-maker. That's all I've got this week. I'll post more in the future.

Wanted to give some comment about linked stuff... couse the links redirect somwhere - before you enter the desired site. but as it looks, the forum system does this redirect. EXAMPLE:
is this normal? #update two minutes after#
ok, now i see that all the links are going to this viglink thing.
so, what is this viglink? is this the tool for monetizing the product - us?

I don't know for sure if viglink monetizes Proboards by harvesting data, but that's a good point to consider. In the future, I will try to keep direct links to a minimum and type out the urls instead. If they are too long, I can shorten them.

Yeah, sadly it's the price to pay for a completely "free" forum. This alerted me as well at first, but yeah I looked into it and there's no way to turn it off. Fair - it's the way they make money, and we are using their services. In fact, using an adblocker is in violation of their tos, too. ;P but shh I won't be snitching!

Now that a week has gone by, I figured I might as well share six more cool sites I've uncovered.
Resources - an idea for a website - anideafora.websiteThis site generates ideas for a website. When I tried it, it suggested "a website with a land of make-believe". So I added that to my site. I'm sure this will be very helpful if you're having trouble figuring out the next step for updating your Neocities page.
Resources/Tools - Cleanup.pictures A really powerful tool that's basically remove.bg in reverse. If you want to remove something from an image, but don't have incredible Photoshop skills yet, this online editor will probably serve you just fine. I found that it's really useful when you want to remove text from an image.
Resources/Games/Learning - Flexbox Froggy - flexboxfroggy.com
I already brought this up in another thread, but I beat Flexbox Froggy in one sitting with only W3Schools to help me in a few sections. It's a browser game designed to help the player become more confident in their abilities with CSS. The aesthetic is simple and pleasing, and I think a lot of users who are new to web coding will find it very helpful.
Music - rave.dj An incredibly powerful tool that lets you take music on YouTube and Spotify, and either Mash-together two songs or turn a selection of songs in a DJ set. You can connect your Spotify and/or YouTube account if you're so inclined, but it works fine without doing it. Some inputs work better than others, obviously, but you can sometimes get really great stuff. Surprisingly, the best thing I've ever made on it is this: rave.dj/CG0A6EvHf27rLA
Resources/Environment - solarpunk projects - reddit.com/r/solarpunk/wiki/projects I don't use Reddit much, but there are a handful of really useful resources on the site. I can't link to all of them, but this page has a good chunk of them that are relevant to my interests and I would assume some of yours as well. r/solarpunk relates to "a genre and aesthetic that envisions collective futures that are vibrant with life, as well as all the actions, policies, and technologies that make them real...". Even if you don't 100% buy into it, I feel like these groups share a lot of our values. And this directory has a lot of brilliant links about the environment, anti-consumerism, and cleaner living. I'm sure you could find at least one that would interest you.
WTF - The Pug In A Rug - puginarug.com It's a Pug in a Rug. I don't know what else to tell you. Alright, I think that's enough for one week. I hope at least one user finds something they get a kick out of.

I've been thinking about it, but I finally decided to offer up my own website: ππ

°π! It's an online dive bar that is explicitly queer and trans. There are also forums that are hosted on Jcink and Spacehey (although spacehey/myspace's forum scene was never really that active. So I've seen the most activity on jcink so far). I was inspired to create this project after finding out recently that my hometown queer/trans bar closed down a few years ago, like so many others in the world.
I'm also curious about other online communities that are QTBIPOC-centered. Are there others out there that people would recommend?

This is a really old-fashioned, charming fansite based on the Disney franchise. Not only is it very old-fashioned, but it has a lot of links to other html fan sites.
