General thread for suggestions, ideas, and things like that! One thing I'd like some input on, for example, is whether to keep the forum public (guests can read) or registration-only. On one hand, I suppose that making it registration-only would give the members an added layer of safety, in case they're sharing emails, forums, or groups (although I hope they'd only share public info in the first place!). On the other hand, a public forum can stand the test of time better, and if some people join and share some places, it could serve as a bit of a directory. Similiarly, right now I've set it so that I need to give each registered member an okay before they can start posting. I've done this because there's still people wasting their time trolling tiny forums every now and then, and I don't have time to properly moderate, but it might have some disadvantages.

It looks like the default font for posts' bodies in the available dark theme is bold, for whatever reason. On top of that, ProBoards seems to be doing all it can to reject my custom styling tool.
I don't suppose we're uniformly in favour of assigning a normal font weight there?

I don't suppose we're uniformly in favour of assigning a normal font weight there? That's very fair! I use light mode so I didn't notice. I tried editing the theme, but it swears the font wasn't bold at all to begin with I went ahead and installed a bunch of the most downloaded free-to-use proboards theme. Except for purberry, land, and cloud 6, the others should all be some variation of dark mode. Let me know if those work better!

Thanks, Ray – it's good to have choice. These are diverse, and it looks like the creators even use element backgrounds to… promote themselves. Wild. ^ ^
The alternate version of the default dark theme seems to use Arial instead of Verdana. My web inspector says the font style is normal, but the weight is still 700, which is… definitely bold. It's still a little better, but "Moon" might be the most readable of those for me so far.
If nothing else, maybe I'll look into what's involved in writing a theme if you'd be amenable to installing it eventually.

It seems like a shame to have you do all that work, especially if we're gonna ditch proboards eventually! I've copy-pasted the CSS for the default dark theme. If you can spot the line I can replace the weight from, I'll be more than happy to edit it! Or if you want to make more changes - go wild ^^ pastebin.com/319frmWQ

Ooh, thank you – I'll check. (And, right, good point about the temporariness of ProBoards.)

Well, I've checked. (Is this really CSS? I'm not aware that "at signs" are used for anything in CSS beyond declaring special behaviour rules, so I'm guessing it's some preprocessed variant. Not that it matters.)
The font weight I was seeing in the rendered pages was "700," and the only line that references that weight is line 106, which seems to assign it to a variable meant for text that's meant to be bold. So it could be a little wonky in its effects, but you could try adjusting that to a typically non-bold value like 300, or even just "normal."

But now spacing between characters look weird as hell on my end now. Truly proboards is... something. ;P I've tinkered a bit more with it and duplicated the default theme, but changed its colors to reflect the dark scheme one. It should be called something like "default dark colors" lol! I thiiiink maybe that one will work?

Okay! For that much trouble, it finally looks to me like a halfway-usable dark theme, and I'll stick with it for now. Thank you. ^ ^
