Hello ppl. Started using a new os last month, and when trying to login to the forum, it does not let me through... Thats why i today started up the old system, to log in here and say hi! I got emersed into the gemini world. i like the protocol and the content a lot. Foud many great tools - simple, open source things, you can compile yourself. And i decided to go down that rabbit hole. You sure heared about the car sharing system. What about the computer sharing system? - and a community like the:
https://tilde.town/
Maybe some of you tried this already or are part of it...?
I see serverhosting is an important thing. And want to work more with it, so i decided to dedicate a computer for that purpose. Did not decide yet what system. And so on...
Any of you interested in taking part? We could even host a forum on that machine. and abandon the raft...

That is very generous of you to share your computer modro ! septet had stated that they kept getting an error message that the forum does not exist. I have received the same error a couple of times as well. I know that Ray intended The Web Raft to be a temporary meeting place, so maybe at a little over three months in we are at a point where a new forum would be a good idea? At the very least, it would get rid of the advertisements attached to every hyperlink. Personal Questions & Concerns* What type of forum software should it run? phpBB (like the Yesterweb Forum used), ElkArte, or something else? Unfortunately, I don't think ProBoards (i.e.: the service that The Web Raft is currently on) will allow the content of the forum to be exported, so we would have to rebuild the threads if people want to continue these conversations. Personally, I think all of it is worth continuing (e.g.: blog47177 's research into alternate search engines, Hannah 's book club, etc.). * There are relatively few active accounts on The Web Raft, but there seems to be a lot of "guest" visits. I wonder what would be the best approach...Should the new forum be open to registrations or should it be limited (e.g.: invites shared only with the member list of this forum)? I do not want anyone to become overwhelmed with "maintenance" so maybe a small, private forum would be good? In general, I think the most important thing is that the people who are interested in staying in touch be able to do so. I would still like to see us come together as a community to work together on the collaborative website that loaf created. Maybe I should start converting some of the posts that I've made here into HTML articles... * Would the new forum have some particular goal or function, such as attempting to build a "new web" together as inspired by the Mission statement of the Yesterweb? Personally, I do not mind reminiscing about the "old web" so long as it is for the sake of designing something that learns from the past, preserving what is constructive and transforming what is not. Likewise, I think one can be dedicated to a meaningful purpose while also enjoying the process of its unfolding, a process which is both artistic and technical. In other words, creating an online/offline culture that serves everyone can be both serious and fun! Let me know what y'all think.

Hmmmm...I wonder if was periodic maintenance of ProBoards or something? The first time I got it was like three weeks ago, but I didn't think anything of it.
